Suspension & Joints Engineer – Steel & Rubber Springs

About the role

Siemens Mobility is seeking a dedicated Engineer to lead the development of suspension and joint systems for railway bogies. You will work on steel springs, rubber springs, air springs, dampers and bearings, ensuring they meet the specific requirements of the Indian procurement market and our Aurangabad plant.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate bogie components from requirement clarification through warranty support.
• Design steel, rubber and air spring systems, dampers and bearings, creating detailed drawings, calculations and technical specifications.
• Ensure compliance with legal, internal and project‑specific standards, including technical offers and specification documents.
• Manage schedule, cost and quality for all assigned engineering projects and provide regular reporting.
• Create and maintain material master data, bills of materials and documentation for each component.
• Coordinate functional and geometric integration of components into the bogie assembly, focusing on manufacturability and cost efficiency.
• Communicate scope changes to project engineers and support seamless integration into overall projects.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience in suspension and joint engineering for rail applications.
• Proven ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical design challenges.
• Solid judgment, problem‑solving competence and a track record of improving processes.
• Experience working in a matrix or virtual team environment and sharing knowledge proactively.

Required skills

• Design of steel springs, rubber springs, air springs, dampers and bearings.
• Creation of CAD drawings, engineering calculations and technical specifications.
• Material master data management and bill of materials (BOM) creation.
• Project scheduling, cost control and quality management.
• Compliance with Indian procurement regulations and Siemens internal standards.
