Specialist Tax Accounting

About the role

3M is seeking a Tax Accounting Specialist to support direct tax accounting activities for business units across the US and other regions. The role works closely with the Global Tax organization, ensuring accurate and compliant tax-related accounting and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review tax accounting entries, perform reconciliations, and make adjustments for month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closes.
• Maintain tax balances in the general ledger and ensure compliance with global accounting standards and tax policies.
• Collaborate with regional tax and finance teams to exchange information, resolve issues, support audits, and assist with global tax reporting.
• Calculate, review, and validate withholding tax on cross‑border payments, ensuring timely filings and payments.
• Support standardization, automation, system enhancements, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (completed before start).
• 4‑8 years of experience in tax accounting or general‑ledger accounting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• US GAAP tax accounting knowledge.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Understanding of record‑to‑report processes.
• Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies (optional).
