Software Engineer (SDE 2/3) & Data Structures Instructor

About the role

Newton School of Technology is seeking a combined Software Development Engineer (SDE 2/3) and Senior Technical Instructor to lead its Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA) curriculum. The role blends hands‑on software engineering expertise with academic teaching, preparing students for competitive programming, technical interviews and real‑world engineering challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging lectures, coding sessions and practical labs on core and advanced DSA topics.
• Develop structured course materials, assignments, coding exercises and assessments.
• Teach algorithmic paradigms such as brute‑force, greedy, divide‑and‑conquer, dynamic programming, backtracking, branch‑and‑bound, graph algorithms, searching, sorting and optimization.
• Explain time and space complexity and guide students toward efficient problem‑solving approaches.
• Lead hands‑on labs where students implement, debug, analyze and optimise algorithms.
• Mentor students in structured thinking, debugging, optimisation and preparation for technical interviews and coding competitions.
• Review assignments, projects and assessments, providing actionable feedback.
• Identify high‑potential learners and support their advancement in competitive programming.
• Integrate industry examples and real‑world engineering problems into the curriculum.

Required profile

• Master’s (M.Tech/M.E.) or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong expertise in Data Structures, Algorithms, problem solving and core computer‑science concepts.
• Professional software engineering experience at the SDE 2/3 level.
• Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor and communicate complex technical material.
