Software Engineer – Scala

About the role

As a Software Engineer specializing in Scala, you will join SmartBear’s Reflect product team to solve complex business problems and build highly scalable, high‑availability applications. Reporting to the Lead Engineer, you will work hands‑on with modern functional programming tools to deliver features that enhance the user experience of an AI‑powered test automation platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, document and implement new systems using Scala 2.x/3.x.
• Develop backend services and RESTful APIs with frameworks such as FS2, Akka and cats‑effect.
• Write production‑grade code following product requirements and contribute to automated test suites.
• Participate in system testing, code reviews and agile ceremonies.
• Collaborate with both business and technical stakeholders to ensure delivery meets expectations.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on programming experience in Scala.
• Ability to communicate status, issues and risks clearly and timely.
• Comfort working in an agile development environment.
• Proactive problem‑solver who can contribute to technical discussions.
