Software Engineer – Network Automation & AI

About the role

Cisco is looking for a Software Engineer to design, automate, and qualify customer use cases on the Cisco 8000 Platform (IOS‑XR). The role focuses on building advanced test frameworks, leveraging AI‑powered tools, and ensuring large‑scale network solutions meet customer reliability and performance expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop automated test frameworks and tools for large‑scale execution.
• Execute test cases through automation, validate defects, and verify fixes.
• Utilize AI‑driven tools to improve test efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Build and integrate chatbots and AI assistants for test execution, defect triaging, and knowledge retrieval.
• Apply generative AI for test case generation, configuration creation, log analysis, and root‑cause guidance.
• Continuously improve test coverage, automation, and performance benchmarking.
• Research and adopt domain‑specific AI models for networking automation and observability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related) with 1+ years of professional experience, or a Master’s degree.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑based productivity tools, chatbot frameworks, or automation assistants.
• Passion for network automation, AI‑driven productivity, and customer‑first innovation.
