Software Engineer III – Java & AWS

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned Software Engineer III to join JPMorgan Chase’s Consumer and Community Banking division. In this role you will design, develop, and maintain high‑volume Java backend services on AWS, delivering secure and scalable technology solutions that support the firm’s business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance Java‑based backend services for high‑volume transaction processing.
• Build and operate solutions using AWS services such as Aurora Postgres, ECS/Fargate, and EC2 with a focus on scalability and reliability.
• Leverage enterprise‑authorized AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve code quality, generate tests, and accelerate delivery.
• Participate in design reviews with senior engineers and architects to ensure alignment with technical standards.
• Follow strong engineering practices including code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, testing, observability, and documentation.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Demonstrated expertise in Java backend development, object‑oriented design, and common design patterns.
• Experience building distributed services on AWS and working with databases such as Aurora Postgres.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail in a complex domain.
• Effective communication and collaboration across engineering and product teams.
