Software Engineer II - Low-Latency Java and Kafka

About the role

You are ready to grow your software engineering career within JPMorgan Chase’s Payments and Liquidity business. As a Software Engineer II you will join an agile team that designs, enhances, and delivers secure, stable, and scalable technology products.

Key responsibilities

• Execute standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
• Write secure, high‑quality code in Java (or another language) with limited guidance.
• Leverage enterprise‑authorized AI coding‑assist tools to improve code quality, speed, and productivity while validating outputs.
• Design, develop, and troubleshoot components with awareness of upstream and downstream system impacts.
• Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge, including AI‑assisted automation, to increase delivery value.
• Gather and analyze large data sets to identify problems and support secure, stable application development.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 2 years of applied experience.
• Hands‑on experience with Java, distributed databases (Oracle, MongoDB), messaging systems/MQ, gRPC, and low‑latency, high‑traffic system design.
• Experience using AI‑assisted development tools and understanding responsible AI use.
• Familiarity with the full Software Development Life Cycle and agile methodologies.
