Software Engineer II – Integrations & API Connectivity

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Software Engineer II to join its Open Finance Europe – Connectivity team. The role focuses on building and operating scalable API integrations with financial institutions, delivering secure and reliable backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, and support scalable APIs and backend services using C# and .NET.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of maintainable software solutions.
• Write high-quality code throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application and production issues with guidance from senior engineers.
• Participate in code reviews and follow engineering best practices.
• Implement unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Security, and SRE teams.
• Improve observability, automation, and operational efficiency of services.
• Continuously learn and apply new technologies and tools.

Required profile

• 2-4 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience developing backend applications and APIs with modern frameworks.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and distributed systems concepts.
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle, testing practices, and secure coding principles.
• Ability to analyze and solve technical problems with guidance.
• Experience delivering software components in a collaborative team environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
