Software Engineer - Android Kotlin

About the role

HARMAN Automotive is looking for an experienced Android UI Developer to lead the creation of sophisticated user interfaces for Android Automotive OS applications. You will work closely with design, architecture, and product teams to deliver high‑quality, performant UI components using Jetpack Compose.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development of complex UI components for Android Automotive OS using Jetpack Compose.
• Drive adoption of the MVVM architectural pattern across the UI team.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, UI architects, and product owners to ensure technical feasibility and optimal user experience.
• Design and implement unit and UI testing strategies with JUnit, Espresso, and Compose testing.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and UI/UX issues.
• Mentor junior developers through code reviews and pair programming.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of Android application development experience, focusing on UI.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Ability to work onsite five days a week and collaborate in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Android development with Kotlin.
• Jetpack Compose and its performance characteristics.
• Android Jetpack components (ViewModel, StateFlow, SharedFlow).
• MVVM architectural pattern.
• Kotlin Coroutines.
• UI testing frameworks: JUnit, Espresso, Compose testing.
• Figma toolchain for UI asset extraction (optional).
