Software Development Manager – Store Acceleration Tech

About the role

As a Software Development Manager you will develop a deep understanding of Amazon’s Store Acceleration technology, partner with development teams across locations, and own the architecture and end‑to‑end delivery of critical software systems. Based in the new Bangalore development centre, you will lead a team of engineers, recruit and develop talent, and foster a culture that reflects Amazon’s leadership values.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a team of 8‑10 software engineers within the Store Acceleration Tech (SAT) group.
• Own roadmap execution for your technology area in close collaboration with Product Management and customers.
• Drive innovation and define next‑generation solution vision together with senior engineers and product experts.
• Provide structured performance management and career growth plans for engineers reporting to you.
• Design and deliver complex, high‑scale systems that enable autonomous store operations and handle billions of transactions.
• Lead the evolution of supply‑chain architecture and influence technical decisions across multiple organisations.

Required profile

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of hands‑on engineering experience.
• 8+ years leading definition and development of multi‑tier web services.
• Strong knowledge of engineering practices across the full software/hardware/network development lifecycle.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience).
• Excellent communication skills with users, technical teams and senior leadership (preferred).
• Proven ability to recruit, hire, mentor and grow software engineering talent (preferred).

Required skills

• Multi‑tier web services development.
• Software development lifecycle (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, live‑site operations).
• Source control management (e.g., Git).
• Build and deployment tooling.
• Testing and quality assurance practices.
