Software Development Engineer – Linear Discovery

About the role

Prime Video is looking for a Software Development Engineer to shape how customers discover and interact with Live TV on its Linear platform. You will work on core services that power page composition, content ordering, search and personalization for millions of viewers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the page composition engine that determines carousel and collection placement on Linear pages.
• Build intelligent ordering systems that optimize content section placement based on user behavior and business rules.
• Develop and maintain search services tailored for live programs, channels and upcoming shows.
• Create scalable services that integrate with recommendation systems to deliver personalized listings.
• Implement robust caching and content‑delivery mechanisms to ensure low‑latency responses for high concurrency.
• Collaborate with client teams to evolve composition and search APIs for new features.
• Partner with the Linear Personalization team to incorporate recommendations into ranking and discovery.
• Drive improvements in monitoring, alerting and overall operational excellence.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and implementing page composition or similar content‑delivery engines.
• Experience building intelligent ordering or ranking systems.
• Background developing search services for live or streaming content.
• Strong knowledge of building scalable, low‑latency services.
• Familiarity with caching strategies and high‑throughput content delivery.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional client and personalization teams.
• Track record of improving monitoring, alerting and operational processes.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
