Software Development Engineer II – Full Stack

About the role

NxtWave is seeking a full‑stack Software Development Engineer II to build and ship features for its rapidly growing ed‑tech platform. You will work on end‑to‑end product components, collaborate closely with product, UX and operations, and own the delivery of high‑impact services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of complex features across frontend, backend and data layers.
• Make architectural decisions on frameworks, datastores and performance patterns.
• Review and approve pull requests, enforcing clean‑code, SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Build and maintain shared UI component libraries and backend service frameworks.
• Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks in browser rendering and server throughput.
• Instrument services with metrics, logging and observability, driving SLIs and SLAs.
• Define and enforce testing strategies: unit, integration and end‑to‑end.
• Own CI/CD pipelines, automating builds, deployments and rollbacks.
• Ensure security, accessibility and SEO best practices.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to translate business goals into technical roadmaps.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of production full‑stack development experience.
• Graduates of IIT/NIT or equivalent product‑based company experience.
• Proven leadership in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical trade‑offs to non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• React with TypeScript and modern CSS methodologies.
• Node.js (Express/NestJS) or Python (Django/Flask/FastAPI) or Java (Spring Boot).
• RESTful and GraphQL API design.
• MySQL/PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, DynamoDB, Redis.
• Docker and AWS services (Lambda, EC2, S3, API Gateway).
• Testing frameworks: Jest, pytest, Cypress, Playwright.
• Performance tools: Lighthouse, backend tracing.
• Secure coding: OAuth2, JWT, XSS/CSRF protection.
