Site Safety Officer (Mining) – Manager

About the role

The Site Safety Officer (Mining) will lead safety initiatives at Adani Group’s mining operations, ensuring compliance with Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) regulations and driving a zero‑non‑conformance culture. Reporting to senior management, the officer will oversee risk mitigation, safety training and emergency preparedness across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce DGMS safety norms, focusing on coal dust, electrical, fire and other mining hazards.
• Track and resolve findings from DGMS safety audits, aiming for zero non‑conformities.
• Maintain comprehensive safety records and conduct regular safety review meetings.
• Lead Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) exercises and implement mitigation measures.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of incidents and drive corrective actions.
• Organise safety orientation for new staff and vocational training such as gas testing and first‑aid.
• Develop and update emergency response plans and conduct safety drills.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mining safety management, preferably within coal mining.
• In‑depth knowledge of DGMS regulations and audit processes.
• Strong analytical ability to assess risks and conduct incident investigations.
• Excellent communication skills for training and stakeholder engagement.
