Senior Surveyor – Mechanical

About the role

The Senior Surveyor – Mechanical will lead project‑management activities, quality surveillance and expediting for third‑party inspections across diverse oil & gas projects. Reporting to the Senior Business Manager – Trichy, the role operates within the Bureau Veritas Quality Assurance System and Code of Ethics.

Key responsibilities

• Review contractual technical standards and highlight inspection issues.
• Inspect pressure vessels, boilers, storage tanks and related components from raw material to final stage, following ASME Sec‑VIII and other codes.
• Conduct piping and pipe‑tube inspections, including dimensional checks, NDT, hydro‑test and mechanical testing.
• Inspect casting, steel structures for hydro‑power plants, and piping components such as flanges, valves and pumps.
• Select appropriate inspection techniques and supervise a team of inspectors.
• Perform vendor assessments, audit documentation and rate vendor performance.
• Prepare inspection checklists, coordinate project inspections and record results impartially.

Required profile

• Engineering graduate (Mechanical, Production or Industrial) with at least 10 years of industry experience, including 3‑5 years in oil & gas.
• Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes and national/international inspection codes.
• Level II NDT qualification as required by the service line.
• Proven leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
