Senior Software Engineer I - Audit & Logging

About the role

DigitalOcean is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Audit Logging & Security Visibility team. You will own critical parts of high‑throughput audit pipelines, ensure data is tamper‑proof, and enable customers and internal teams to detect threats and meet compliance. This role blends deep technical work with cross‑team influence in a fast‑moving cloud environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reliable Go‑based pipelines that collect, clean, and enrich audit events at scale.
• Develop SIEM integrations with Splunk, Datadog, Chronicle, and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Enhance the audit log platform to provide tamper‑proof records, clear retention policies, and real‑time access.
• Collaborate with IAM, Threat Detection, and Platform teams to ensure consistent, high‑quality log data.
• Lead efforts to reduce technical debt in logging and event standards.
• Handle production incidents, write post‑mortems, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years of software engineering experience, preferably with logging, security telemetry or data pipelines.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical trade‑offs to both engineers and non‑engineers.
• Hands‑on experience with streaming systems such as Kafka or Flink.
• Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001 audit requirements and distributed‑system fundamentals.
• Comfortable working with Kubernetes, Terraform, SQL and analytics databases.

Required skills

• Go (primary language) and gRPC.
