Senior Software Engineer - Data Platform

About the role

Atlassian is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build and operate its foundational data platform, which powers the data behind in-product analytics in Jira, JSM and Confluence, as well as dedicated solutions such as Atlassian Analytics, the Teamwork Graph and AI-native features like Rovo. The role is open to candidates in Bengaluru, India, working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and operate core components of the data platform across streaming ingestion (Flink) and MPP query/serving (StarRocks), with ownership from technical design to launch.
• Deliver solutions used by other teams and products across Atlassian.
• Own operational excellence for high-scale production systems: reliability, performance tuning, cost and data quality/observability.
• Tackle complex architecture challenges, apply architectural standards and drive them on new projects.
• Lead code reviews and documentation, fix complex bugs on high-risk problems, and mentor more junior team members.
• Partner across engineering teams on initiatives spanning multiple projects.

Required profile

• 6+ years in software engineering with strong distributed-systems and data-engineering depth.
• Experience operating high-scale data platform systems in production.
• Open-source contributions to relevant projects are a strong positive.

Required skills

• Data platform systems: streaming/ingestion (Flink; Spark acceptable) and/or MPP query engines (StarRocks, Trino, Apache Pinot, Apache Doris).
• Coding in Java, Scala and Python.
• Cloud data infrastructure on GCP or AWS.
