Senior Quality & Material Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Quality & Material Engineer to lead quality assurance and material control for highway construction projects in Uttar Pradesh. The role involves developing QA/QC procedures, supervising laboratory and field testing, and ensuring compliance with national specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and monitor QA/QC procedures, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality management systems.
• Supervise laboratory and field testing of soils, aggregates, cement, concrete, bituminous materials and other highway construction materials.
• Ensure all works comply with MoRTH/NHAI specifications, IRC codes, BIS standards and contractual requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, testing, sampling, quality audits and verify test results to identify non‑conformities.
• Coordinate with client, project manager, contractor and technical specialists to resolve quality and material issues.

Required profile

• Graduate in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum 10 years of experience on highway projects, including at least 5 years as a senior quality/material expert.
• Experience handling at least two major highway projects (each ≥40% of total project length).
• Medical fitness certificate as per Appendix‑B‑l for candidates over 60 years.

Required skills

• QA/QC procedure development and implementation.
• Preparation and review of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
• Laboratory testing of construction materials (soil, aggregates, cement, concrete, bitumen).
• Knowledge of MoRTH/NHAI specifications, IRC codes and BIS standards.
• Quality auditing, non‑conformance reporting and corrective action planning.
