Senior Mobile Android Engineer

About the role

Atlassian's Audit Platform and Guard is the security and data-governance layer for its products, giving admins centralized controls and visibility to keep sensitive data secure and compliant. This Senior Mobile Android Engineer builds native Android apps so customers can monitor activity, investigate issues and stay in control anywhere. The role is full-time, based in Bengaluru and open to remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Build and ship native Android features that make audit and security data useful on mobile.
• Own capabilities end to end, from design through testing, rollout and production support.
• Partner with backend, platform and product teams to deliver cohesive experiences across Atlassian products.
• Handle sensitive customer data responsibly, with security and privacy built in from the start.
• Improve app performance, reliability and the mobile developer experience.
• Contribute to Atlassian's frontend web stack when the work calls for it.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience building native Android applications in Kotlin; iOS experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong understanding of Android fundamentals, app architecture, performance, scalability and platform best practices.
• Security and privacy-conscious mindset when handling sensitive data.
• Passion for solving complex problems and delivering performant, user-centric solutions.

Required skills

• Android Studio, Gradle, Git and other development tools.
• Unit and UI testing with JUnit and Espresso.
• CI/CD for Android and automated testing pipelines.
• Mobile authentication (OIDC, OAuth, SAML).
• Reactive programming (RxJava, RxAndroid).
• Nice to have: modern Android libraries, analytics-driven architecture and UI decisions, and experience in security, audit or compliance domains.
