Senior Legal Executive – Litigation & Compliance

About the role

Godrej Agrovet Limited is looking for an experienced legal professional to join its Legal & Secretarial Department in Kolkata as a Senior Executive – Legal. The role involves managing litigation, drafting contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing corporate legal advice, particularly for the manufacturing, agriculture, and seed businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Handle and monitor all litigation matters, filing and defending suits in district, civil courts and tribunals.
• Initiate and follow up on recovery of dues from distributors, customers and other parties.
• Draft, review and vet contracts, agreements, notices and other legal documents.
• Provide legal support to business teams on statutory and regulatory issues and respond to government notices.
• Maintain compliance records using Legatrix Compliance Software and support corporate governance requirements.
• Verify property documents, coordinate land acquisition matters and liaise with external advocates.
• Assist the marketing team with credit appraisal and represent the company before statutory authorities.

Required profile

• LL.B. degree (LL.M. optional) and at least 7‑8 years of post‑qualification experience.
• Experience in a corporate legal department of a public limited company or as a practicing advocate.
• Background in manufacturing, agriculture or seed industry is preferred.
• Familiarity with Insecticides Act, Seeds Act, Land Laws and recovery proceedings under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet applications.
• Experience using Legatrix Compliance Software.
• Strong legal drafting and document vetting abilities.

What we offer

• CTC up to ₹12 LPA, based on experience and suitability.
