Senior Java & Kafka Engineer – Mumbai

About the role

Deloitte’s Technology & Transformation practice is looking for an experienced Java + Kafka Engineer to join its Mumbai team. You will help design, build and deliver scalable, cloud‑ready micro‑services that turn massive data sets into actionable insights.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high‑quality Java micro‑services using Spring, Spring Boot and Quarkus.
• Integrate real‑time data pipelines with Apache Kafka and MQ.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines with a strong focus on Test‑Driven Development.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams following Agile methodologies.
• Work with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Own tasks end‑to‑end, from design through deployment and production support.
• Liaise with external vendors when required.

Required profile

• 6‑9 years of professional experience in software development.
• Strong communication skills and a sense of ownership.
• Hands‑on experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Quarkus, REST APIs, and Kafka.
• Proficiency in PL/SQL/SQL and database development.
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container technologies.
• Solid understanding of J2EE, OOP design patterns, and micro‑service architecture.
