Senior Engineer – Computational Knowledge Graph

About the role

Avathon is looking for a Senior Engineer to design, develop, and scale its proprietary Computational Knowledge Graph platform, Neon. You will work across the full stack, from ontology design to API delivery, collaborating with data scientists, product managers, and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement knowledge graph schemas, ontologies, and data models for complex domains such as supply chain and manufacturing.
• Develop and optimise IQL queries for multi‑hop traversals, joins and aggregations.
• Build data ingestion pipelines that populate and maintain the graph from diverse sources.
• Implement computational functions and analytics on top of the knowledge graph.
• Integrate Neon with Python/NumPy for advanced analytics and ML model integration.
• Design and expose APIs for downstream applications and optimise query performance for large‑scale datasets.

Required profile

• 4–7 years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years using graph or knowledge‑graph technologies.
• Strong proficiency in Python and solid experience with graph databases such as Neo4j, Amazon Neptune or TigerGraph.
• Experience with SQL, query optimisation, REST APIs and cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS or Azure acceptable).
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills, and a BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.
