Senior Data Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Data Engineer at Bureau you will own the data platform that powers fraud detection and identity intelligence products, working at massive scale with high‑throughput streaming signals and a cloud data lake.

Key responsibilities

• Design and architect Bureau's cloud data lake and lakehouse, the single source of truth for identity signals, risk events and decision outcomes.
• Build and operate scalable batch and streaming pipelines that ingest, clean, transform and aggregate data from device SDKs, APIs, third‑party partners and internal services.
• Develop and maintain Airflow orchestration workflows for research, reporting, compliance analytics and ML model training.
• Own reliability, observability and cost‑efficiency of production data infrastructure with monitoring, alerting and SLAs for real‑time risk decisions.
• Collaborate with data science and ML teams to design feature stores and pipelines that shorten the path from raw signal to deployed model.

Required profile

• 4‑8 years of hands‑on big data engineering experience on the cloud, preferably AWS.
• Deep experience with data‑lake technologies such as EMR, Spark, S3, Athena and modern warehouses/lakehouses (ClickHouse, Databricks, Snowflake).
• Production experience with pipeline orchestration tools like Airflow or Astronomer.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes/EKS, MSK/Kafka and RDS ecosystems.

Required skills

• Strong programming in Python and/or Scala/Java, plus expert‑level SQL.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and serving both batch and real‑time workloads.
• Proficiency with AWS services (EMR, S3, Athena, MSK/Kafka, RDS, EKS).
• Knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes) and monitoring best practices.
• Graph database experience (Neo4j, TigerGraph, Amazon Neptune) – nice to have.
