Senior Control & Protection System Application Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Control & Protection System Application Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of HVDC control and protection solutions. You will work closely with customers, mentor junior engineers, and ensure that our systems meet the highest standards of reliability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead requirement gathering, system design, and detailed engineering of HVDC control and protection systems.
• Develop and validate plant models using PSCAD, EMTP‑RV, MATLAB and other simulation tools.
• Perform dynamic performance studies and tune control parameters to satisfy grid‑stability criteria.
• Review and approve technical documentation, conduct design reviews, and identify project risks.
• Support tendering, operations, contractual, and after‑sales activities.
• Coach and develop junior team members, defining technical road‑maps and strategies.

Required profile

• Senior‑level engineering experience in power‑systems control and protection, preferably with HVDC projects.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work autonomously on complex technical problems.
• Excellent communication skills for customer interaction and internal mentorship.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electromagnetic transient simulation tools (PSCAD, EMTP‑RV).
• Experience using MATLAB for plant modelling and performance analysis.
• Deep knowledge of HVDC control and protection concepts.
• Ability to conduct dynamic performance studies and parameter tuning.
