Senior Cloud Operations Engineer – R&D

About the role

AVEVA’s global Cloud Operations & Infrastructure team is looking for a senior technical staff member to design, develop and operate cloud‑enabled products. The role combines software development with cloud operations, ensuring solutions are secure, stable and scalable while supporting 24×7 services for industrial customers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop micro‑services and serverless functions on Azure and/or AWS platforms.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve operational stability, security, cost management and reporting.
• Continuously enhance DevOps processes through automation, optimization and effective reporting.
• Respond to incidents promptly, minimise customer impact and keep stakeholders informed.
• Oversee cloud deployments, track progress, resolve or escalate release issues.
• Manage cloud environments proactively, including infrastructure as code, certificates, storage, health and backup status.
• Validate new services against operational readiness standards before production hand‑over.
• Maintain compliance with security policies and provide expertise to business stakeholders.
• Document operational procedures clearly and keep them up to date.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of software development or DevOps/SRE experience, with at least 5 years focused on cloud environments.
• Strong programming background in C#.NET Core or Java.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Node.js or Python.
• Experience with Azure and/or AWS services, including serverless and micro‑service architectures.
• Hands‑on knowledge of infrastructure‑as‑code tools and cloud security best practices.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setting and participate in on‑call rotations.
