Senior BI Engineer – Power BI Subject Matter Expert

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Power BI Subject Matter Expert who knows Power BI inside out. You will be the go‑to technical authority on data modeling, DAX, performance, and governance while still building solutions yourself. You will solve the hardest Power BI problems across enterprise engagements and guide developers on best practices. Experience with Microsoft Fabric is a strong advantage.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop enterprise‑scale semantic models using star‑schema design and advanced DAX techniques such as calculation groups, field parameters, and dynamic formatting.
• Create high‑quality reports with strong UX, drill‑through, bookmarks, tooltips, and custom visuals, and write Power Query (M) and SQL for data preparation.
• Choose appropriate storage modes (Import, DirectQuery, Composite) and optimize refresh strategies, including incremental refresh, partitioning, and aggregations.
• Diagnose and tune slow models and reports using DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, VertiPaq Analyzer, and Performance Analyzer.
• Implement security (RLS/OLS), workspace strategy, and manage Power BI Service components such as gateways, scheduled refresh, apps, sensitivity labels, and deployment pipelines.
• Act as escalation point for complex Power BI issues, conduct model and report reviews, mentor developers, and support clients adopting Microsoft Fabric.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Relevant certifications such as PL‑300 and DP‑600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer).
• 5+ years of deep, hands‑on Power BI experience in enterprise BI/analytics, with expert‑level DAX, data modeling, and Power Query skills.
• Strong communication and client‑facing abilities, with experience guiding adoption of Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
