Senior Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Atlassian is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join its engineering team, working remotely from Bengaluru, India. The role focuses on delivering creative improvements for engineering teams, driving large, complex projects from technical design to launch and tackling complex architecture challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Drive large, complex projects autonomously, from technical design to launch
• Tackle complex architecture challenges, apply architectural standards and start using them on new projects
• Lead code reviews and documentation, and take on complex bug fixes, especially on high-risk problems
• Be an example of thorough, meaningful code reviews
• Partner across engineering teams on company-wide initiatives spanning multiple projects
• Transfer depth of knowledge from your current language to excel as a Java developer
• Mentor junior members of the team

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience building and developing backend applications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferably Computer Science or equivalent experience)
• Senior-level experience with one or more prominent languages such as Java, Python, Kotlin, Go or Scala
• Hands-on experience with public cloud offerings (AWS, GCP, Azure) and understanding of SaaS, PaaS and IaaS
• Fluency in one database technology (e.g. Oracle, Postgres, DynamoDB, Cassandra)
• Experience building well-tested, highly scalable microservices and distributed systems
• Knowledge of agile methods (XP, Scrum) and practical mentoring of other engineers
