Senior Accountant – Balance Sheet Governance

About the role

Mastercard is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to lead governance and review of Balance Sheet reconciliations within its Global Business Services organization. The role ensures accuracy, integrity, and compliance across multiple entities and regions.

Key responsibilities

• Act as primary reviewer for Balance Sheet account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, GAAP and IFRS.
• Evaluate quality, accuracy and completeness of reconciliations prepared by global teams.
• Monitor reconciliation timelines, escalating issues to leadership as needed.
• Maintain governance framework and internal controls over reconciliation processes.
• Collaborate with Treasury, Controllership and business units to resolve discrepancies.
• Develop standardized templates, procedures and identify automation opportunities.
• Prepare governance reports and metrics on reconciliation status and risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, CA or equivalent preferred.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a reconciliation reviewer or governance role.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS and financial controls.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Oracle financial systems.
• Experience with BlackLine reconciliation tools.
• Analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
