Safety Officer – Factory Operations

About the role

The Safety Officer will lead occupational health and safety initiatives at the factory site, ensuring compliance with DGMS regulations and internal safety standards. The role focuses on achieving zero non‑conformities during audits and minimizing unsafe incidents across the Surguja Cluster coal washeries.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and monitor OHSMS programs covering life safety, chemical safety, hazardous material handling, accident prevention and emergency response.
• Conduct internal and external audits for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, drive corrective actions and close non‑conformities.
• Lead safety committee meetings, toolbox talks and behavior‑based safety initiatives, including the use of Gensuite for observation tracking.
• Manage contractor safety, delivering inductions, toolbox talks, and performance evaluations.
• Develop and deliver safety training calendars for both Adani and contract employees.
• Investigate accidents and major incidents, prepare reports and ensure implementation of preventive measures.
• Coordinate emergency response planning and act as the primary liaison during incidents.

Required profile

• Proven experience in industrial safety, preferably within mining or manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of DGMS guidelines and Indian occupational safety regulations.
• Ability to conduct audits, lead safety committees and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication skills for training and stakeholder engagement.
