Safety Manager

About the role

The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment across Godrej Properties projects. This role conducts safety inspections, audits, and supervises safety officers and contractors to prevent incidents and maintain compliance with company policies and Indian safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor site safety adherence, ensuring all safety policies and procedures are effective.
• Maintain safety infrastructure such as first‑aid stations, safety induction programs, emergency medical assistance, sanitation facilities, labour camps, crèches, and access controls.
• Prepare and execute monthly schedules for inspections, audits, training, and safety campaigns in coordination with contractor safety plans.
• Verify that contractors provide required welfare and sanitation facilities in line with the BOCW Act and Contract Labour Act.
• Assess availability, quality, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain buffer stock.
• Record and report incidents promptly to the Project Manager and regional safety lead, followed by detailed reports within eight hours.
• Conduct safety audits, review site safety and logistics plans, and ensure statutory compliance of equipment such as earth‑moving vehicles, electrical tools, and lifting devices.
• Monitor housekeeping, health, hygiene, and environmental aspects (illumination, noise, dust, fumes) on site and at labour camps, providing feedback for improvements.

Required profile

• Experience in site safety management and supervision of safety personnel.
• Knowledge of Indian safety regulations, including the BOCW Act and Contract Labour Act.
• Ability to prepare safety schedules, conduct audits, and generate incident reports.
