Road Safety Expert – Highway Projects

About the role

Provide expert technical advice on road safety planning, design, implementation, monitoring and management for major highway projects. The role involves conducting road safety audits, reviewing designs and ensuring safety measures are integrated throughout project stages.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and review Road Safety Audits (RSA) at feasibility, design, construction and pre‑opening stages.
• Review highway designs, junctions, interchanges, signage, markings and related features from a safety perspective.
• Identify safety deficiencies, hazardous locations and black‑spots and recommend engineering corrective measures.
• Prepare, review and monitor Road Safety Management Plans for inter‑urban highway projects.
• Provide technical guidance on traffic management, work‑zone safety, road signs, crash barriers, lighting and pedestrian facilities.
• Monitor implementation and effectiveness of safety measures during construction and operation, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Analyse accident and traffic data to identify trends and propose mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with clients, project managers, contractors, police and traffic authorities on safety issues.

Required profile

• Graduate in Civil Engineering.
• At least 10 years of experience on highway projects, with minimum 5 years in road safety works.
• Experience conducting Road Safety Audits on at least two highway projects, including one at design stage.
• Experience preparing Road Safety Management Plans for inter‑urban highways.
• Medical fitness certificate as required.
