Researcher – AI/ML

About the role

Microsoft Research India is seeking exceptional researchers to join its AI/ML team. The role involves tackling open research problems, developing new models and scalable architectures, and translating breakthroughs into large‑scale applications.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and pursue high‑impact research topics in artificial intelligence, machine learning, NLP, information retrieval, systems, and theory.
• Design, implement, and evaluate novel algorithms and models from ideation through deployment.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, product teams, and external partners to drive research toward publications and industry influence.
• Mentor interns and junior team members, and contribute to a vibrant research community.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Strong programming abilities and excellent communication skills.
• Proven capacity to conduct end‑to‑end research and development.
• Ability to work effectively in highly collaborative environments.
