About the role

We are looking for a Research Chemist (Level 1) to join BASF’s Innovation Campus in Navi Mumbai. The role focuses on the synthesis and scale‑up of small organic molecules, intermediates and active ingredients, supporting the development of sustainable chemical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Synthesize and scale‑up compounds from milligram to multikilogram quantities.
• Plan syntheses, perform retrosynthetic analysis and conduct literature searches.
• Develop and optimise processes for advanced intermediates and finished products.
• Document experiments, prepare technical transfer reports and support tolling activities.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including research, analytical and safety.
• Ensure compliance with BASF Environmental Health & Safety and HR policies.

Required profile

• M.Sc. in organic chemistry with strong theoretical knowledge of organic synthesis.
• 5–8 years of experience as a chemist in the chemical, pharmaceutical or agro‑chemical industry.
• Effective communication and technical skills to work in multidisciplinary projects.
