Research Associate – ICSSR Funded Project

About the role

The Institute invites applications for a full‑time Research Associate to work on the ICSSR‑funded major research project UDEEK, which examines marital abandonment of women by NRI husbands in Haryana and Punjab. The role involves doctrinal, empirical and policy‑oriented research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and Project Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field interviews with women and institutional stakeholders across Haryana and Punjab.
• Assist in coding and analysing case files from police stations, District Legal Services Authorities and courts.
• Maintain field notes and research records in line with ethical standards.
• Contribute to literature reviews, qualitative data analysis and report writing.
• Support preparation of project reports, ICSSR deliverables, policy briefs and academic publications.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree (minimum 55%) in Law, Sociology, Social Work, Political Science, Public Policy, Criminology, Women’s Studies or related fields.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in qualitative research and fieldwork.
• Proficiency in English and Hindi; willingness to travel extensively.
• Desirable: doctoral degree (or pursuing PhD), UGC‑NET/JRF, prior funded‑research experience, knowledge of Haryanvi or Punjabi.
