About the role
This is a short‑term, remote contract position for a Physics Assistant Professor who will design and solve challenging physics problems to evaluate large language models. The role starts immediately and runs for 11 weeks, requiring full‑day commitment with a four‑hour overlap with Pacific Standard Time.
Key responsibilities
- Design and solve physics problems for LLM evaluation benchmarks.
- Create clear, step‑by‑step solutions with detailed reasoning.
- Collaborate with LLM researchers on benchmark development and reasoning tasks.
- Define new evaluation benchmarks spanning undergraduate to PhD‑level physics.
- Analyze complex physics problems using logical, structured approaches.
- Explain physics concepts clearly using simple language, visuals, and reasoning.
Required profile
- Master’s, Ph.D., or currently pursuing a Ph.D./Postdoctoral degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field.
- Strong research and analytical abilities.
- Creative and lateral thinking.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote environment.
Required skills
- Proficiency in at least three of the following tools: QuTiP, OQuPy, QuSpin, TenPy, Strawberry Fields, openEMS, ngspice, Quantum ESPRESSO, OpenFOAM, FEniCS/FEniCSx (DOLFINx), WarpX, REBOUND, PYTHIA, Kwant, Elmer FEM, GF180MCU PDK, Sky130 PDK, FreeCAD, Project Chrono, Scilab Xcos, volare, emcee, Icarus Verilog, GTKWave, Verilator, gmsh, Elmer, pyarmadillo, MeshLab.
What we offer
- Compensation of $450 per approved task.
- 8‑hour daily schedule with 4‑hour PST overlap.
