R&D Inventory & Logistics Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced R&D Inventory & Logistics Lead to oversee chemical storage, compliance and inventory processes for our Crop Protection research facilities in India. The role combines legal compliance, inventory management, training and coordination with ERP teams to ensure safe and efficient laboratory operations.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure legal compliance for Class A solvents, poison stores, narcotics and chemical handling licenses, including timely renewals and adherence to new directives.
• Conduct periodic inventory safety checks and audits.
• Manage receipt, classification, storage and issuance of laboratory chemicals and consumables; generate Goods Receipt Notes (GRN).
• Implement, troubleshoot and enhance the chemical inventory ERP system; coordinate with the ERP team on issues and new features.
• Identify near‑expiry chemicals, notify chemists and arrange proper disposal.
• Review inventory levels and raise purchase orders for consumables and common chemicals/solvents.
• Develop and deliver training programmes on controlled‑substance handling, expired‑chemical disposal and ERP usage; conduct new‑employee inductions.
• Provide guidance to logistics personnel and storage assistants, ensuring safety and compliance with local laws and company policies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a scientific discipline, preferably chemistry.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in inventory management and logistics, preferably within R&D or chemical environments.
• Fluent communication skills and a proactive, result‑driven, entrepreneurial attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP inventory management systems.
• Knowledge of chemical safety regulations and controlled‑substance handling.
• Experience preparing Goods Receipt Notes and managing chemical stock records.
