R&D Engineer – High Voltage GIS (Vadodara)

About the role

Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced R&D Engineer to join its High Voltage Business in Vadodara, India. The role focuses on product technical support, feasibility studies, and design changes for high‑voltage gas‑insulated switchgear (GIS) and related components. The successful candidate will work in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment and contribute to sustainable power‑transmission solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide global product technical support for technology centres and factories.
• Perform feasibility studies and implement changes based on problem reports from cross‑functional teams.
• Execute Product Change Requests (PCR) and Customer Specific Changes (CSC) for HV GIS equipment.
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings of GIS components using Creo and manage data in Windchill PLM.
• Maintain and modify Bills of Materials in SAP.
• Conduct tolerance chain calculations, burst‑pressure analysis, and basic dielectric calculations.
• Document technical reports, development and analysis reports, and assembly/test instructions.
• Participate in root‑cause analysis and coordinate with cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and follow change‑management procedures.

Required profile

• B.Tech. or M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience in high‑voltage product development or GIS design.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
• Proven ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and deliver high‑quality results.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Creo for 3D modelling and 2D drafting.
• Experience using Windchill PLM system.
• Knowledge of SAP for BOM management.
