Purchasing Engineer – Value Analysis & Value Engineering

About the role

Lead and manage technical cost‑down (VAVE) projects across the HVAC product lifecycle, delivering defined cost savings and performance targets. Collaborate with design, engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to drive value analysis and cost modeling.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage VAVE projects from concept to realization, ensuring cost savings and performance goals.
• Conduct value analysis, BOM rationalisation, part substitution, design‑to‑cost and target costing with engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Develop, track and report project plans, milestones, savings realization and risks, maintaining accurate data in systems.
• Engage suppliers for VAVE activities, qualify them, negotiate cost reductions and manage development plans.
• Facilitate cross‑functional workshops to optimise components, assemblies and processes using DFMEA/DFX and design‑for‑cost methods.
• Support NPI and change‑management (ECNs/PCNs) to implement cost‑down concepts with minimal risk.
• Build and maintain cost models, cost breakdown structures and target costs; perform priced‑for‑function analyses.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, monitor supplier risk and sustainability considerations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Thermal, Electrical engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5+ years experience in VAVE purchasing and project purchasing, preferably within the HVAC industry.

Required skills

• Engineering drawing interpretation (GD&T) and HVAC component knowledge.
• BOM analysis and cost modelling (target costing, TCO assessment).
• ECN/PCN change‑management and risk mitigation.
• Supplier qualification, development and negotiation.
• DFMEA/DFX application and design‑for‑cost methodologies.
• Cross‑functional workshop facilitation.
