Purchasing Coordinator – Procurement & Vendor Management

About the role

Soneji Engineering is looking for a proactive Purchasing Coordinator to manage procurement activities for pumps, hydro‑turbine equipment and related components. You will act as the link between internal engineering, production teams and external suppliers to ensure timely delivery of critical materials.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate procurement of pumps, hydro equipment, assemblies and related components.
• Process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders according to project and production needs.
• Obtain quotations, technical documents, pricing and delivery schedules from suppliers.
• Follow up with vendors to guarantee on‑time delivery and avoid project delays.
• Maintain supplier communication and support vendor relationship management.
• Evaluate quotations and assist in commercial negotiations.
• Collaborate with engineering, project, production, quality and stores departments for material requirements.
• Track purchase orders, pending supplies and delivery commitments.
• Maintain purchase records, vendor databases and procurement reports.
• Verify purchase invoices, delivery challans, inspection reports and related documents.
• Support procurement of mechanical items such as castings, fabricated parts, machining components, valves, bearings, motors, pipes, fasteners and hydro equipment parts.
• Assist in vendor development and supplier performance evaluation.

Required profile

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2–5 years of experience in purchase/procurement.
• Good understanding of purchase processes, vendor management and material planning.
• Strong coordination, negotiation, follow‑up and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple purchase activities and meet project timelines.
