Public Relations Officer

About the role

The Public Relations Officer will be based in Coimbatore and will lead the district’s external communications. This full‑time, on‑site position focuses on shaping the public image of the organization and promoting its community‑service initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, edit, and distribute press releases and other communication materials.
• Coordinate with media outlets, journalists, and other stakeholders to secure coverage.
• Plan and execute public‑relations campaigns that support events and service projects.
• Monitor media coverage and provide regular reports to leadership.
• Advise senior leaders on communication strategies and messaging.
• Collaborate with internal teams to create compelling stories about community impact.
• Maintain up‑to‑date information across all communication platforms.

Required profile

• Strong public‑relations and media‑relations experience.
• Proven ability to write clear, impactful press releases and announcements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; local language proficiency is a plus.
• Experience planning and executing communication campaigns, preferably in nonprofit or community‑service settings.
• Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Relevant qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
• Prior experience in community outreach or event promotion is an asset.
