Professor of Dermatology (Full-time, Madurai)

About the role

The Velammal Medical College Hospital and Research Institute in Madurai is seeking a full-time Professor of Dermatology. The role combines clinical care with teaching and research responsibilities, supporting both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide outpatient and inpatient dermatology services, diagnosing and treating a broad spectrum of skin, hair and nail disorders.
• Deliver lectures, bedside teaching, and clinical demonstrations to medical students and residents.
• Supervise ward rounds, outpatient clinics and mentor junior faculty and residents.
• Guide thesis work, research projects and contribute to departmental curriculum development.
• Participate in departmental meetings, quality-improvement initiatives and community outreach programs.

Required profile

• Recognized MBBS degree and MD/DNB in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy (or equivalent) with eligibility for a professorship as per regulatory norms.
• Extensive teaching experience in dermatology at a recognized medical college.
• Strong clinical expertise in general, pediatric dermatology, dermatologic emergencies and management of venereal and leprosy conditions.
• Demonstrated research activity, peer-reviewed publications and participation in academic conferences.
• Effective communication, leadership and mentoring abilities.
