Principal Software Engineer – Solution Architect (Mobile & Java Backend)

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the architecture of its Merchant Acceptance Program. You will shape enterprise‑grade mobile applications, SDKs, and Java‑based backend services that operate at global scale, handling high transaction volumes with a focus on performance, security, and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive microservices‑based architecture for fintech solutions.
• Design and implement enterprise‑grade APIs following Mastercard best practices.
• Architect Android and iOS mobile apps and SDKs that meet scalability and security standards.
• Create and maintain technical blueprints, service descriptions, and design documentation.
• Incorporate high‑availability and system resiliency patterns to maximize uptime.
• Collaborate with senior product and technical leaders to align delivery with architectural vision.
• Conduct design reviews and ensure development teams adhere to architectural guidelines.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a solution architect for large‑scale, cloud‑native systems.
• Proven track record designing mobile applications and SDKs for Android and iOS.
