About the role
SMEC is seeking a Power Economist to support a major power and energy project in Hyderabad, Sindh. The role focuses on economic and financial analysis of the project, resource planning and policy evaluation to ensure successful delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Review project reports with emphasis on pricing and economic aspects.
- Conduct economic and financial analyses, calculating benefit‑cost ratio, internal rate of return (IRR) and net present value (NPV).
- Perform sensitivity analyses to test key assumptions.
- Estimate project benefits and financial returns.
- Provide financial analysis support and assist the client in maintaining budgetary and financial control.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Economics or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the energy or power sector.
- Proven ability to conduct economic and financial analysis of infrastructure projects.
- Specialised knowledge of transmission lines and grid stations.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
