Power Economist

About the role

SMEC is seeking a Power Economist to support a major power and energy project in Hyderabad, Sindh. The role focuses on economic and financial analysis of the project, resource planning and policy evaluation to ensure successful delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Review project reports with emphasis on pricing and economic aspects.
• Conduct economic and financial analyses, calculating benefit‑cost ratio, internal rate of return (IRR) and net present value (NPV).
• Perform sensitivity analyses to test key assumptions.
• Estimate project benefits and financial returns.
• Provide financial analysis support and assist the client in maintaining budgetary and financial control.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Economics or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the energy or power sector.
• Proven ability to conduct economic and financial analysis of infrastructure projects.
• Specialised knowledge of transmission lines and grid stations.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
