About the role

The Pharmacist will work within a hospital pharmacy environment to dispense medications accurately, counsel patients, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and hospital standards. This role supports medication safety initiatives and collaborates closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

  • Dispense medications against valid prescriptions after verifying dosage, drug interactions, and patient details.
  • Review prescriptions for completeness and clarify any discrepancies with prescribers.
  • Counsel patients on proper medication usage, storage, precautions, and potential side effects.
  • Maintain appropriate storage conditions, including cold chain and controlled substances.
  • Monitor inventory levels, coordinate procurement, and implement FEFO/FIFO practices.
  • Perform stock verification, expiry monitoring, and maintain accurate records for narcotic and scheduled drugs.
  • Participate in medication reconciliation, ADR reporting, and other medication safety initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, biomedical waste management, and patient safety protocols.
  • Support NABH quality initiatives, audits, and continuous improvement activities.

Required profile

  • Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm).
  • Mandatory registration with the Karnataka State Pharmacy Council (KSPC) with a valid certificate throughout employment.
  • 0–3 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy; fresh graduates with valid KSPC registration may be considered.

Required skills

  • Medication dispensing and prescription verification.
  • Pharmacy inventory management and stock control (FEFO/FIFO).
  • Regulatory compliance with KSPC, Drugs & Cosmetics Act, and Pharmacy Act.
  • Adverse drug reaction (ADR) and medication error reporting.
  • Documentation of narcotic, psychotropic, and scheduled drug records.
