About the role
The Nursing Superintendent will supervise all nursing care and activities within the unit, ensuring cleanliness, order, and high‑quality patient services. This full‑time, women‑only position involves regular rounds, staff coordination, and acting as a liaison with patients, attendants, and hospital management.
Key responsibilities
- General supervision of nursing care and all nursing activities in the unit.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the department and its environment.
- Conduct regular rounds, including outpatient clinics and night rounds.
- Receive and evaluate night‑staff reports on patient care.
- Analyze and determine the required nursing services and staff rotation.
- Organise staff meetings and plan with unit sisters for effective administration.
- Guide inexperienced ward sisters on good management principles.
- Ensure availability, proper use, and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- Act as public relations officer for the unit, handling issues with DASS IV staff and patient attendants.
- Keep the Nursing Superintendent/Matron informed of unit needs and special problems.
