Patient Care Assistant – Oncology (Full‑Time)

About the role

The Patient Care Assistant provides direct bedside support to oncology patients, working under the supervision of a Team Leader and registered nurses. This full‑time, day‑shift position involves hands‑on care, assistance with activities of daily living, and execution of specific technical tasks to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Measure and record vital signs, weight, height, and intake‑output data.
• Encourage and assist patients with turning, coughing, deep breathing, and incentive spirometry.
• Ambulate patients, assist with transfers, and transport as needed.
• Provide personal care such as bed baths, oral hygiene, dressing, linen changes, and bedside cleaning.
• Manage drains, catheters, urine bags, bedpans, and emesis basins, documenting outputs.
• Maintain a safe environment by reporting equipment issues and handling supplies appropriately.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and specimen collection following proper protocols.
• Assist with range‑of‑motion exercises and use of ambulatory devices.
• Respond promptly to call lights and patient requests.

Required profile

• Ability to work directly with patients and support registered nurses.
• Willingness to follow supervision and care plans.
• Capability to perform bedside tasks safely and efficiently.

Required skills

• Phlebotomy (with training).
• Electrocardiogram (EKG) performance.
• Vital‑sign measurement (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
• Incentive spirometry usage.
• Range‑of‑motion (ROM) assistance.
• Ambulatory device assistance.
