Outsourced Controller

About the role

System Six is seeking an experienced Outsourced Controller to lead finance for a portfolio of high‑growth, investor‑backed US businesses. This fully remote, 40‑hour‑per‑week role is based in India and offers the chance to work with multiple clients while developing a team of accounting professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the outsourced Controller for a portfolio of US‑based clients, handling financial reporting, compliance, audits, and accounting operations.
• Onboard new clients, establishing accounting processes, systems, and procedures for long‑term success.
• Lead special projects such as system migrations, M&A preparation, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, delegating work, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Maintain proactive communication with founders, CFOs, and investors, translating complex financial data into clear insights.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of accounting and finance experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller role at a US public accounting firm.
• Experience supporting investor‑backed or high‑growth businesses with annual revenue over $5 million.
• Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously without compromising quality.
• Experience managing, mentoring, and developing a team of accounting professionals.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Humility, openness to coaching, strong attention to detail, and a positive attitude.

Required skills

• Deep technical proficiency in US GAAP and US financial reporting standards.
• Knowledge of US compliance areas: payroll, sales & use tax, property tax, and business licenses.
• Hands‑on experience with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online/Desktop.
• Advanced Excel skills.
