Operations Manager

About the role

As an Operations Manager at Hitachi Energy India you will lead end‑to‑end operations of a manufacturing unit, covering production, testing, planning, procurement, facility maintenance, engineering and warehouse management. You will drive growth and operational excellence using the SQDIC framework (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Cost).

Key responsibilities

• Lead business ramp‑up initiatives to meet growing market demand.
• Champion Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance across the unit.
• Oversee execution of production, testing, facility maintenance, planning, procurement, production engineering and warehouse operations.
• Implement best practices to drive continuous improvement in quality, productivity and efficiency.
• Optimize inventory levels and manage material processes from forecasting to consumption.
• Collaborate with senior management to align operations with strategic goals and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Build, lead and inspire a high‑performing operations team.
• Identify improvement opportunities, develop business cases and implement changes to enhance speed, cost efficiency and customer experience.
• Lead cross‑functional projects, including CAPEX procurement and commissioning, to support growth and innovation.
• Maximize resource allocation for operational efficiency.
• Drive successful product transfers and support new product launches.
• Guide and empower cross‑functional teams to achieve collective success.
• Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 12+ years of overall experience, with at least 5 years in Operations Management within a global manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Proven leadership experience in change and transformation management.
• Expertise in process optimization and sustainable improvements using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred).
• Analytical, structured mindset with ability to make data‑driven decisions.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
