NonLinear Structural Analysis Engineer

About the role

The Advanced Numerical Simulation team within Airbus’ Structural Analysis group is seeking a NonLinear Structural Analysis Engineer to support aircraft programmes from design through certification and in‑service phases. You will develop and apply state‑of‑the‑art numerical simulations to ensure structural integrity and optimise manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform linear and non‑linear finite element analyses to assess static and dynamic strength of aircraft structures under diverse load cases.
• Identify unexpected design issues and propose structural modifications during development.
• Support aircraft certification by de‑risking test programmes and conducting root‑cause analyses for in‑service problems.
• Use simulations to optimise manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Develop new simulation methods and automate the simulation lifecycle to reduce manual effort and turnaround time.
• Explore digitisation techniques, including AI and machine‑learning, to augment simulation accuracy.

Required profile

• Strong fundamentals in engineering mechanics, strength of materials and stress analysis of metallic and composite structures.
• Deep understanding of structural nonlinearities and all phases of finite‑element simulation.
• Hands‑on experience with scripting to automate analyses.
• Awareness of emerging AI/ML technologies applied to engineering.
• Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem‑solving abilities.
