Night Shift Custodian – Operations 1 (Railyards)

About the role

The Operations 1 Custodian works the night shift at the railyards of Central New Mexico Community College, keeping the facilities clean, safe and ready for students, faculty and staff. This full‑time position focuses on routine custodial duties and rapid response to special cleaning requests.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, common areas, lunch and break rooms.
• Empty trash and recycling containers, wash windowsills, walls, doors, furniture and whiteboards.
• Vacuum, sweep and mop hallways, walkways and stairways.
• Perform floor care tasks such as stripping, waxing, sealing, buffing and spot‑cleaning carpets.
• Respond to emergency spill clean‑up and special moving or set‑up tasks as directed by the Lead Custodian or M&O Supervisor.
• Report repairs and safety issues promptly.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently during night hours and follow safety and OSHA regulations.
