Mechanical Support Technician – Rolling Mill & Equipment

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Support Technician to ensure the reliable operation of critical steel‑making equipment such as hot and cold rolling mills, finishing lines, soaking pits, scalpers and stiff‑leg cranes. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, rapid breakdown response and continuous improvement of mechanical systems while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain high mechanical availability of hot rolling mill, cold rolling mill, finishing line, soaking pits, scalper and stiff‑leg crane through scheduled preventive maintenance and swift breakdown repairs.
• Execute preventive maintenance plans, record all activities and produce reports for shift engineers or supervisors.
• Diagnose mechanical faults, identify root causes and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Follow all safety procedures in high‑risk zones and ensure tools and equipment comply with company and industry standards.
• Perform alignment, lubrication and calibration of mechanical components to preserve equipment integrity.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory, raise requisitions and report shortages proactively.
• Support planned shutdowns, overhauls, installations and improvement projects in coordination with engineering teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical maintenance of heavy industrial equipment, preferably in steel‑making or similar environments.
• Ability to work safely in high‑risk areas such as soaking pits and under large machinery.
• Strong coordination skills with production and electrical teams.
• Attention to detail for documentation and reporting.
